Havells, one of India’s leading consumer brands, approached us to design the digital interface for their new Fully Automatic Washing Machine — right from scratch. The goal was to translate a traditionally manual process into a smooth, app-based experience. We created an intuitive flow that allows users to control and monitor their wash cycles with ease, offering flexibility, clarity, and real-time feedback. By simplifying complexity and focusing on user needs, we helped Havells deliver a connected laundry experience that feels effortless and modern.
Havells was introducing app control for its Fully Automatic Washing Machine for the first time — with no existing flows, patterns, or user habits to rely on. The challenge was to design an experience from scratch that made operating a complex appliance feel simple and intuitive. Since users don’t interact with washing machines daily — and rarely through an app — the interface had to be instantly clear, reassuring, and easy to navigate. From real-time status updates to feature customization, the goal was to build trust and ease across a wide range of users — making smart laundry control feel effortless, even for first-time users.
We designed the washing machine interface from scratch to make a complex appliance feel simple and intuitive. A key highlight was Wash Genie — a smart assistant that helps users select the right wash settings with just a few taps. It simplifies decision-making, especially for those unsure about fabric care or program choices. The app guides users through custom settings, real-time updates, and program control with clear visuals and feedback. We focused on reducing friction, especially for first-time users, using thoughtful defaults and step-by-step guidance. The result is a connected laundry experience that feels effortless, modern, and built for everyday use.
