Havells Happiness: Designing a Delightful Loyalty Experience

The Havells Happiness Program is Havells India’s flagship loyalty program aimed at rewarding long-term consumers for their continued trust and engagement. Our task was to redesign this loyalty experience and integrate it seamlessly within the Havells mobile app — not just as a feature, but as a value-driven ecosystem.There was no distinct loyalty experience within the app. This is where we stepped in.We partnered with Havells to rethink and reframe what loyalty program by Havells could look like — from the ground up. Our approach included multiple rounds of user testing, a new flexible design theme and micro-interactions to create moments of joy.

Problem statement

Havells was launching its first-ever loyalty program — a completely new feature within its consumer app. Unlike industries with frequent user engagement, appliance purchases are infrequent and high-value.The challenge was to define what loyalty means in this context and build an experience that felt valuable.We had to consider where users would discover the program, how they’d understand the value of coins, tiers, and privileges, and how to make enrolment feel rewarding rather than tedious.Since there was no existing habit or expectation, the experience had to educate, engage, and excite — all within a few taps. The goal was to introduce this new mental model seamlessly, making loyalty feel like a natural, delightful extension of the Havells app experience.

Users were more likely to engage when shown exactly what they were missing — making loss aversion a powerful motivator for enrolment.

Design solution

We approached the loyalty program as a product within the app — not just a feature. We mapped user journeys, tested early concepts, and iterated rapidly based on feedback. We built a distinct visual theme for the program with tier-based cards, coin animations, and a clear value proposition. A new loyalty design system helped differentiate tiers while keeping the experience cohesive. Gamified elements like spend-to-upgrade bars and scratch coupons encouraged repeat engagement, while ensuring users stayed focused on their main app tasks.The result: a seamless, intuitive, and rewarding experience that felt natural to explore and exciting to use.
