The entertainment industry has seen a vast change over the past few years. With the availability of high-speed internet and establishment of an online presence, entertainment industries are able to reach out to larger masses of people across the globe. Even consumers due to the massive change in lifestyle coupled with work schedules, wish to watch relevant content rather than just sticking to the same old content on the home TV box. Spuul is one such online platform with a rich library of Indian content spanning over several languages, genres and eras. There is something for everyone.
Apart from the fact that the Interface was outdated and not at par with its contemporaries, Spuul users found the platform to be very monotonous and less engaging bundling not so enjoyable experience for the users. In order to recreate the entire experience, it was important for us to understand the user’s mental model once they come to the platform. As the content on the platform had to be user-driven, we went with a modular design approach having several widgets predesigned and adaptable each catering to the specific need of the user.
We designed an interface focusing on content categorization and easy discovery of content. This involved creating appropriate cards, colour palette to distinguish between different sections and content type. We focused on designing Spuul on-demand video platform to create an engaging and enjoyable experience for the users, while staying ahead of its competitors
